Summer Exhibition 2008
Our annual summer exhibition was again held in conjunction with the St Maurice summer fair and lamb feast. (June 21st/22nd 2008). We exhibited 74 framed paintings and 50 browsers. We had a good number of visitors, and the standard of paintings shown was very high. The sales were a little better than last year. We sold 4 paintings and 5 browsers for a total value of £250.00. This is compared to the 2007 exhibition where we took a total of £239.00 The raffle proved very popular, for the excellent painting donated by Jenny Mercer. The proceedings from the raffle resulted in the club being able to donate £92 to the charity nominated by Jenny. The Marie Curie cancer Fund. Closure of Joshua Reynolds Centre
An extract from a letter received from the Adult and Community Learning team of the Plymouth City Council - "the Sir Joshua Reynolds Centre is owned by the Hele Trust and is leased to Plymouth City Council. That lease ends on 28th January 2008, and regrettably Plymouth is not in a position to continue funding the centre. They have however, agreed to allow use of their services until 31st march 2008, so that the spring term programme can take place. "
This means that our spring programme will continue, with our last session at the Josh. being on March 10th.
The committee will endevour to find an alternative location for our painting activities. If you have any suggestions for a venue, please email me on ronscreech@onetel.com or phone me on 01752 336461 Ron Screech
